The Events Village

Our community has asked for temporary venue and event spaces in Christchurch while we recover from the recent earthquakes. This need has come after the extensive damage to many of the city's key event venues.

The Christchurch Events Village will be made up of a number of hireable venues.

They are:

A 27m diameter Geo Dome a 12m diameter Geo Dome, which will be available between 1 September 2011 and August 2012 (capacity 400).

  • What is the Christchurch Events Village?

    The Christchurch Events Village is a project that has come about after a need for temporary event venues emerged following the February earthquake where many of the city’s event venues sustained extensive damage.

    The village is situated in North Hagley Park’s Special Events Area with entrance off Armagh Street Bridge entrance of the park.

  • What different venues make up the Christchurch Events Village?

    The venues which make up the Christchurch Events Village are:

    - The Geodesic 27m diameter dome which is used as an events space and has an approximate capacity of 400. Available from approximately 1 September until early August 2012 (please enquire for remaining availability as dates filling fast).

    - The Geodesic 13m diameter Dome which will be joined to the larger Geodesic Dome to be used as a hospitality space. Available from approximately 1 September until early August 2012 and is available for seperate hire from the larger Dome bookings.

  • How do I get to the Christchurch Events Village?

    The Christchurch Events Village can be accessed through all entrances to North Hagley Park however the closest entrance to the village is the Armagh Street Bridge entrance.   • Is there parking available at the Christchurch Events Village?

    Attendees of the Christchurch Events Village can utilise the Armagh Street Carpark within North Hagley Park. The current operating hours of this carpark are 7am to 6.30pm however on event evenings this has been extended to 11pm.

    Three mobility parks are available on the Armagh Street Bridge roundabout near the entrance to the Events Village, if these are full please indicate to Security who will assist with parking on the grass. There are also 5 mobility parks in the Botanic Garden's carpark - please note these are some distance from the entrance.

    Access is best from the south of the city - Montreal Street - Cashel Street - Rolleston Avenue. Please note the carpark:

    - has a 180 minute parking limit
    - is administered by ADT Security
    - is pay and display
    - has 350 spaces available
    - has five extra mobility carparks available

    Attendees to the Christchurch Events Village can also utilise street parking on Park Tce and Rolleston Ave.

  • Can I buy food and beverages at the Christchurch Events Village?

    There will be a hospitality area serving food and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages within the Christchurch Events Village which will operate during most events.

    Specific items available will vary between events. Please contact the individual event organisers for more information on what will be available during the duration of their events.

  • How do I access mobility parking?

    Three mobility parks are available on the Armagh Street Bridge roundabout near the entrance to the Events Village, if these are full please indicate to Security who will assist with parking on the grass. There are also 5 mobility parks in the Botanic Garden's carpark - please note these are some distance from the entrance.

  • How do I get tickets to events at the Christchurch Events Village?

    All events happening in the Christchurch Events Village will be using their own ticketing agents so best to check the event details on how to purchase tickets.

    Some events will be selling tickets via the temporary i-Site office situated next to the Christchurch Museum in Rolleston Ave.

    There will also be a small Box Office & Information portacom on site where event organisers may choose to sell tickets from.

    Please contact individual event organisers for more information about ticketing for their event.

  • How do I make a booking to use one of the venues at the Christchurch Events Village?
